A Cloudflare Error 1014 indicates that a domain’s CNAME record points to an alias in another Cloudflare account that has not authorized cross-user proxying through Cloudflare for SaaS.
Common causes
A domain’s DNS configuration includes a CNAME record that points to a target domain managed in a different Cloudflare account that has not been configured to permit cross-user proxying.
By default, Cloudflare prohibits CNAME aliasing across different Cloudflare accounts for security reasons, unless the target domain uses Cloudflare for SaaS (Custom Hostnames).
Resolution
If you are not the website owner
Contact the service provider hosting the website to report Error 1014.
If you are the website owner
- If you are pointing your domain to a SaaS provider (like HubSpot, Shopify, or ClickFunnels) that uses Cloudflare, ensure you have completed the SaaS verification steps so your custom hostname is registered in their Cloudflare for SaaS account.
- Alternatively, if both domains belong to you, move them into the same Cloudflare account.
